Life in Delhi University was ruled by college Fests. Our SRCC college Fest was ‘CROSSROADS’. While studying Economics (Hons) at Shri Ram College of Commerce, I was part of an all-girl Western music band as their lead vocalist, performing songs of Barbra Streisand, Smokie, Carpenters, The Mamas and the Papas, among others. We performed at many college Fests; at LSR (Lady Shri Ram College), Hansraj, Hindu College, BITS Pilani among others.
One of my many adventures was at IIT Delhi’s Festival RENDEZVOUS, where I sang Raga Malkauns and won the first prize in the Hindustani Classical vocal category. I surprised myself!
Wow. Looks like the all girl’s band was ‘disbanded’ by the time I entered SRCC to study economics
